Light up with glass
With winter on the doorstep the home seems darker and cooler during daylight hours and, in some instances, even gloomy.
Obviously the answer is more natural light and one of the best way to create a light and bright haven can be a glass room extension.
According to Sydney builder and home improvement specialist Ian Cubitt, glass rooms offer the homeowner a host of immediate benefits. "During winter, when the sun is lower in the northern sky, a glass room has the ability to catch sunlight and actually transfer it into the adjoining room as well," he said.
"Not only does this create a warmer more friendly feel to the home, it helps reduce the cost of artificial lighting during the day."
Ian Cubitt's Classic Home Improvements is a designer and manufacturer of glass rooms and conservatories and is able to advise homeowners on the best options available.
"Having a glass room or conservatory that helps lighten and warm a home during the cooler months is great but you also have to keep in mind the warmer months," Ian said.
